Welcome to the Unapologetic Man Podcast. The only podcast that's all about self-improvement, confidence, success, money, women, and being a fucking man without making any apologies for it. I'm your host, John Anthony. And I'm Mark Sing. And today we're going to be talking about why 99% of people will let you down and what to do about it. So it's actually – we got this idea because Mark and I kind of talk before every podcast a little bit. And we were just talking about how most of the people in our business networks are all talk and no action.
They hype shit up and they say, oh, yeah, I'm going to do this thing or I've got you, whatever. This is what we'll get. This is how much money we'll make, whatever. And then they just never pull through. And it's happened so many times, time and time again, that this lesson of just wait for proof, wait for proof, look at past history. It's been hammered into my head over and over again. I cannot tell you how many people that I'm friends with that I've known for years, right?
And they're working shitty minimum wage jobs making $10 an hour. And I'll try to get them to – I'll be like, hey, dude, like start a podcast. Like start a business. I'll help you. I'll help you. And they'll be like, oh, yeah, that's a good idea. And then they just never do it. And it's because most people – I don't want to be cynical, but most people are going to disappoint you because they're not operating at a high level. They're in coping, not thriving, right? So there's two different mindsets, so to speak.
There's coping and thriving. And coping is basically this overarching mindset where you're at the bottom hierarchy of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, right? You don't even have your basic necessities met. You're just trying to get by. So your mind isn't opened up to the possibilities that could be because you're just in like work mode. You're like, okay, just work, get money. Hopefully I can pay rent. You're just in this like coping mode. But once you get to thriving, that's when shit starts to get really cool because now all of a sudden you've got some extra money.
You're dating some really cool girls, and your mind starts to open up to all the possibilities. And unfortunately, 99% of people are in coping, and they're just going to let you down because of it. They don't see the opportunities that you see. They don't see the great things that could happen. They don't see – it's incredible how many opportunities people have that they don't see in front of them. So I try to convince my friends – I've done over $100,000 of sales online in the past year alone, and people just – they don't understand like, oh, maybe if I pick this guy's brain, I can start a business and quit my shitty minimum wage job, right?
They just – they're so stuck in their own reality that they don't see this. And so you guys – a lot of time, business owners will become cynical because of this, and they'll sort of look at most people as just like the sheep of the world, the masses, which to be fair, there's something to that. So you've got to guard yourself against the cynicism but also be practical and realistic and realize that most people are just stupid, dumb motherfuckers that don't see opportunities, and they're just going to let you down.
You know, the title of this is why 99% of people will let you down and what to do about it. Now, that title itself is a little bit cynical, and while there is some truth in it, it's interesting when you do get into a thriving mentality how you attract other people who are also in that thriving mentality. Now, 99%, whatever, it may be true. It may not be. It's kind of click-baity. But what I found is there's actually a lot of people who are really good people. Like I mean like John, right?
I approached John initially as a copywriter, and most of the time when I approach people, they promise me amazing things, and it never pans out. And it's kind of like that's just business, dude. That's being an entrepreneur. Most of the promises you hear aren't going to pan out. But John actually really came through on everything. Him and I have become really good business partners, and it's because of his integrity and because he's operating at that higher level that that happened. And I find that I keep attracting people like that.
Now, of course, some people that I'm currently working with are letting me down. Some people aren't coming through on their promises. But there are good people out there. And when it comes to women, I know a lot of you guys listen to this podcast because you want tips with women. Well, the big thing is is that oftentimes the more attractive the woman, the less she's really developed her personality, and the more likely it is that she's probably going to let you down in one way or another.
So it's kind of like – John, did you ever see that video where the dude had a graph up, and he's like the hotness level versus the sanity level? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's pretty true, man, because it's like the hotter they get, it seems like the more insane they are because why? Their whole lives, they've kind of been given life on a silver platter. They get whatever they want. People give them the benefit of the doubt. Things are just super easy for them. I understand hot women have challenges as well.
Don't get me wrong. Some things is difficult about being a hot woman. But for my daughter, which by the way, we're having a daughter. Did I tell you about this, John? Of course, yeah. Thank you, man. We just figured out. Congratulations. We just had the gender reveal. So my daughter – I've been trying to attract women my whole life, so it's only like ironic that I don't have a daughter. So for my daughter, if she is excessively attractive, I would rather have that than not be because life is so much easier for attractive women.
Now, oftentimes, they don't have good personalities. My clients will tell me, dude, I'm texting with this girl. She has freaking nothing to say. I'm like, of course, man. She's never had to develop her personality because guys just give her the benefit of the doubt. So really, it's hard to find a girl who is hot and who also has good integrity, a good personality, who's intelligent, who's a go-getter. And oftentimes, it's funny because oftentimes, the best girls are the ones who are fat all the way through high school and college, and then they somehow lost – they got hot, right?
Because they have the personality and the looks. But anyway, so yeah, dude, 99 percent of people, maybe more like 95, 90, whatever it may be, are going to let you down. And really, you can't have expectations too much when you deal with people. They promise you the world and say, dude, I'll believe it when I see it, right? And it's just kind of the reality of life, and it's easy to become cynical in this respect because you're like, dude, everyone is letting me down. Everyone is a piece of shit.
But I'm telling you, not everyone is like that. There are good people out there, but it takes some serious searching and some serious vetting to find those good people, right? Like John is a good fucking dude. He really is. I'm not just blowing smoke. He fucking pays me on time. Like our commissions, our split, he's always like looking for opportunities for us to make money together. He's just a good fucking dude. And while that's hard to find, they are out there. So the first thing you should look at is yourself.
If 99 percent of people – what are you doing over there? I got a Juul. Nicotine helps you focus. Oh, does it? Just taking some nicotine in it. I notice you're drinking a Monster Energy too right there. Oh, yeah. This fucking guy, don't do what he does, dude. Do drugs, guys. They help you focus. It's funny because you do like – you do the modafinil and the SARMs and the – now you're doing e-cigs and rock stars. I do nothing. You know I've never been drunk in my life.
You said, yeah. Yeah. That's good for you, man. That's awesome. Sober, sober sarging is – Oh, it's the best. It's difficult. Oh, yeah, because with alcohol, it's like stayed in a bottle. You get stayed, but then you get sloppy. But with sober, it's like – it's harder to get started. But the peak, like you're so sharp. Everyone is drunk. You're like a puppet master, like these drunk shows. It's the same. I've never been drunk, so I don't know. Like maybe it would be awesome, like just courage in a bottle.
But you're absolutely right. Once I'm warmed up, it's fucking over because I can think clearly. So what was I saying? So really, it's easy to get cynical in this game and especially as an entrepreneur, especially as a guy who's dating girls. But you just kind of have to say, hey, man, it's par for the course. Like it's probably not going to happen. That's not cynical. It's just being realistic. Like I have all these deals on the table right now, man, and on paper, I'm fucking killing it, dude.
Like if all this shit goes through, see you off to Jamaica on my yacht, right? 99% of the shit is not going to happen, dude. Like, bro, I got this fucking affiliate network. I got all these people. I got this emailing list. I got all these people on my radio show. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. And then it's like you launch the shit and it's like, right? Yeah. So you need – the real secret is to have more hooks in the water, really. And it's the same with girls.
You should be talking to at least four girls at once, preferably five to ten. It's a lot of work. But, dude, most of these chicks just aren't going to make the cut. Like they're not. But there are good ones out there and what I always say is quantity equals quality. So fill the top of your funnel with tons of chicks, tons of chicks, tons of business opportunities as much as you can and expect that as they trickle down, people are going to let you down. They're going to make false promises.
Like John said, they're operating at a lower vibration and then out the bottom will come a couple gems. Like John was lucky enough to meet me. Oh, of course. So lucky. Fuck. No, I mean in all seriousness, like Mark, you are one of the best copywriters that I have ever met. And just like in all seriousness, Mark is an awesome dude to do business with. And that's what's so cool too is like when you do operate at this high level, you realize how scarce those people with integrity are.
And so once you find one, it's like you both have the same thought. You're like, holy shit. This guy has integrity. I have integrity. Let's link up and make some fucking money, right? So that's kind of the upside is like, you know, game recognizes game. So whenever you meet someone and you start to notice like shit, this guy has integrity. He keeps his word. He pays me on time. You both realize like, okay, let's take this thing to the fucking moon, you know? Yeah. And yeah, I mean Mark and I were just talking to, you know, on this one guy that basically he was lying to me.
And I guess I'll have to do the numbers, but apparently he owes me like probably 30 to 50 grand. Yeah, and you know, you'll get shit like that that happens, guys, where it's like people will just lie to you and fuck you. But what's cool is once you find the guys that have integrity, you realize like, okay, you can build something with them. You can build a network. You can build a business. And so like Mark said, put all these different, you know, things into the top of your funnel, right?
So think of it like oil wells, right? Say, you know, you want 50 different oil wells, right? And you don't know if the oil is going to come up, if the, you know, the oil, the, you know, success, the happiness, the money, whatever. So you put 50 oil wells out there in the water and whichever ones get you the most oil, you just double down your effort on those things and ignore the rest, right? That's a really critical business mindset shift. You know, Steve Jobs said that success is saying no to 50 different things and saying yes to one.
And that's a really big key, you know, is, is all I get every day guys, at least every day, I get two or three emails from people trying to do business with me. Really? And, oh yeah, dude, like people that want to publish things on my blog, they want to fucking all these different things. And I just ignore most of them because I don't know them. They don't have a track record, you know, and in all honesty, if you just approach someone randomly saying let's do business and you don't start by offering value.
Yes. You're going to get ignored. Yes. There's so much that, dude. Like when the way that Mark and I got linked up, I think Mark, how was it? You, you offered value, right? You were like, Hey, let me, let me, do you want to tell a story? Yeah. Yeah. That's a great fucking story. I wanted to meet John. Dude, you really get two to three emails a day? Yes. Oh yeah. Mine was one of those. Mine was one of those. And I, like one of the 0.01% that I actually followed through with.
Yeah. So this is key guys. Listen up. So dude, what I did is I wanted to meet the motherfucker, right? Because I'm, I was a copywriter at the time and still am. Although coaching now is my, my passion and my focus. But when I initially met him, I hit him up and I said, Hey, um, I'm writing press release about some seduction coaches and I want to feature you. So him and I got on and I gave value. Anytime you want to hit somebody up to do business with them, give value.
What can I give this guy? Because everybody's taking, dude, I get fucking emails all the time too. Hey, especially on LinkedIn. Oh my God, dude, I can do this service for you. I can give you 10,000 backlinks. Just let me know. You know, it's like, dude, you have to give value. How can I help you first? And it's the same with women. When you first go up, you want to offer value. You want to offer conversational subs that she could sink her teeth into most guys go up and try to take value from her.
So I offered John value. We did an interview. We hit it off. And I said, Hey, would you like for me to look at your sales page? Yes, I would. Cool. I looked at his sales page and I say, Hey brother, I think there's an opportunity here. I was in negotiating. You should be always, um, generous in negotiating, not only in business, but also in arguments. Be generous. So with him, I was like, Hey man, like, this is what I think we could do. This is what I'd want to do for you.
I want to prove to you what I could do. Boom. We did that. Then the next thing, then the next thing, the next thing. And now it's like, we're boys, you know, and I give him value. He gives me value. I've made him a lot of money. He's made me a lot of money. Boom, boom, boom. So it's, it's very much the same with everybody you encounter in life. But unfortunately 99% of people are stuck in the mentality of what can I get? What's in it for me with them?
What's in it for me? That's all they think about. And they go at you with this bullshit deals. Like, bro, I got this affiliate. Dude, I have wasted, I have wasted so much time, bro. Fucking preparing shit for people who promised me the moon. And so now I go, whoa, whoa, whoa, step back. Let's do a pilot project together. That's what I call it, a pilot project. I want to see what you can offer. And dude, I just made this mistake again, dude. Here I am, 42 years old, have had, you know, all this experience.
And somebody, I will not name, offered me the moon. I did all this super quality work for him. And I got a little bit blown out. It didn't quite come through as promised. So we all make these mistakes. People can't necessarily be trusted because what do people want? They want to make money off of you. They want to get something from you. Girls are always looking for the upgrade. They're always looking like, what's in it for me? What's in it for me? So they'll fucking lie.
Everyone is. Everyone is. Yeah. They'll lie to you. They'll do whatever. So you really need to take things with reality. Don't get duped into buying into something, you know, committing to something until you see the numbers. But at the same time, when you meet that good person, like John said, that's like the oil well that's producing. Double down on that motherfucker. Treat him good. You know, like treat him like gold, man. And the more you give, he's going to give back. And that's the way the relationship should be.
It should be like this. I give this way. He gives this way. Boom, boom. Give, give, give. Not like, what can I take? What can I take? There's a really, really great book called Give and Take. And it basically talks about how there's two mindsets that people have, right? The giver's mindset and the taker's mindset. Oh, yeah. That's an interesting point. Yeah. So givers are always approaching relationships, business relationships, dating relationships, friendships with the idea of, you know, let me give, right? They give more in negotiations.
They're just, they're givers, right? Takers are the people who are always asking, what can I get? What can I get? What can I take, right? Yeah. And it's really interesting because if you look at the bottom of the rung, right, people that just aren't dating attractive women, people that aren't making much money, they're generally givers, right? They give too much. They don't know how to take. Above that, there's takers, right? These are the people that are kind of assholes that only take, right? But then above that is givers again.
And so what's really interesting that the book talks about is at the very top rung, there's givers that are very generous, but they know how not to get fucked over. Yeah. So what they'll do is they start by giving value, right? And then they'll see, okay, does this person reciprocate? If they don't, cut it off. Yeah. If they do, give more value. They'll give value back, right? Yeah, dude. Because what you find is that at the top rung, you know, think about it like this, guys.
So one way that I actually saw Owen Cook in person, and he put it a really, really great way, right? He's the CEO of RSD, Real Social Dynamics. And what he said is, you know, if you approach every business deal where you want to get 80% and you want to give them 20%, you'll get like one or two deals, right? But if you approach every deal where it's like, okay, let me give you 80%, let me be really generous, right? I'll only keep 20, right? So if you approach it where you want 80%, you'll get one or two deals.
But if you approach it where you're asking, you know, what can I give, right? You'll get a million people wanting to do business with you. So you get 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20 from fucking everywhere, right? And that's what the people at the top understand, right? They understand give value, give value, give value. And you get caught in this mutual feedback loop where the people that are in your network, you know, it might take time to take, to kick in and to understand the aspects of business and to build the systems.
But once it kicks in after a few years, you're just on this upward fucking spiral. You know, give, but understand how to give in the right way. And when you see that someone is a taker, stop fucking giving. Did you do RSD free tour? I did free tours. I've done free tours, hot seats, fucking everything. What was the recent one you just did? The one that was most recent, I think, was… Where you saw Owen Cook? Yeah. I saw Owen. I saw Luke. I saw… Was that RSD?
Madison, Max. Yeah. I respect Max, dude. He's fucking… He's legit, dude. He's killing it with the clickbait. He's great at clickbait. Yeah. And he's ripped. He's fucking rich. He's good with growth. He's got everything, dude. He's got everything, yeah. Yeah. Was that RSD free tour, though, recently? That was Hot Seat. Oh, it was. What they do, their business funnel is they catch you in with the free tour, and then they upsell the hot seats. And then at the hot seats, they upsell the boot camps, right?
Yeah. So I went to a free tour, then went to a hot seat. I've been to a bunch of them. I respect them as business people. I do, too. They're one of the few that I respect. I used to hang out. I think I've told you. I used to hang out with Tyler in Hawaii. In Hawaii, yeah. Yeah, he used to teach me. He's a great man. Great guy. Really intense. He's a cool guy, yeah. And people are mad, too, because they're not talking about dating anymore, because they used to talk about dating a lot, right?
And now they're kind of like, quote-unquote, selling out and giving mainstream advice. But I think the thing that people don't realize is they've had so many media fiascos and scandals that if they teach actual dating advice and hookup, they're just going to get taken out by the media, right? Because you saw the whole Julian Block scandal. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So people, guys, understand that. Like, they gave what they could to the community of pickup, and they've done their role. They're too big at this point. If they want to keep growing, they need to do self-help.
So that's the natural thing. I think it's fine. It's evolution. It's an evolution of your business. I think it's absolutely fine. We're still in the pickup. You know, we do self-development, too, and money. But I think, ultimately, that's where we all want to end up. Like, my favorite clients that I work with, we talk about inner stuff, inner game, NLP techniques. Oh, I love it, yeah. Oh, God. I, like, get off those calls, like, buzzing, like that. So what was my second question? You said that— Talking about betting, giving and taking.
Oh, yeah. So that concept of giving, like, 80% and only taking 20% was given to Owen Cook by David D'Angelo, right? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah, he talked about that, right? He's the OG of the dating—he started the dating market, dating industry. Yeah, he started it, and that's really—his real name is Eben Pagan, and he's one of the greatest copywriters of all time, man. That's why I know about him. Oh, yeah. He's an OG. That's what I'm saying is that there are people out there like Eben Pagan, Owen Cook, other people like this that I'm fortunate enough to know, too, who—these people are amazing, man.
Like my friend Dimitri. Yeah. Bro, he gives so much to me, man. He's, like, he's always calling me and just giving me advice that I'm, like, my mind is, like, blown, right? And I'm, like, bro, like, what can I do back for you? He's, like, no, no, no. You know, don't worry about it, man. Like, you don't need to do nothing. And I always feel, like, he gives 80% and I give 20%. And while I try to give him value back, he's so far above me. He has so much value to give that it's, like— It's, like, he doesn't need anything, dude.
Yeah. He doesn't need anything. Like, he's already ripped. He's already rich. He's already fucking genius internet marketer. Like, what am I going to do? Teach him some jiu-jitsu? Teach him some jiu-jitsu that I learned in my white belt class? Like, I give him nothing. You know what I'm saying? So— Yeah, yeah. And he's married, so I can't help him with chicks. But anyway, it's— Well, that's part of the fun is giving value to people like us that are up and coming. Yeah. It's, like, once you're up there, you're, like, yeah, like, fuck yeah.
Yeah, dude. Like, you see it in other people, you know? Yeah, and a lot of millionaires, you know, people, a lot of people believe that millionaires are assholes. They take advantage of others. Like, honestly, man, like, my mind has been blown because I'm meeting more and more successful people. These are the greatest human beings in the world. A lot of them. Not all of them. But definitely, 99% of these people who we're talking about, the vast majority of them are not wealthy. The vast majority of them are coming from a scarcity mindset, and that's why they're trying to take, take, take.
Whereas if you have an abundance mindset, you're give, give, give, and then you get more in return. It's really counterintuitive that when you just give value, you get it back. You get it back. And I think there's another book called The Go-Giver. The Go-Giver, and it's the exact same concept. Go up and give value. And I always tell my clients that. I'm like, listen, when you approach a girl, I want you to be a go-giver. Go give her something interesting, right? Something funny. Make her day.
Tell her a joke, whatever it may be. And then she gets value from you. She's going to give it back. So, you know, while the majority of people are still stuck in this evolution of the human consciousness, they're still stuck in the scarcity mindset. There are great people who have ascended above that. Many of them are successful entrepreneurs, guys who are very successful with women, millionaires, and they are out there. And when you elevate yourself to that, you're going to attract them into your life. Exactly.
Yeah. I mean, you know, like we always say, game recognizes game. Success recognizes success. You know, and it's funny, too, because like on Twitter, you can see these like these idiots that don't actually know what they're doing, but they're just really good at kind of acting like gurus. And once you actually know what you're doing, you can see through it very quickly. Yeah. Right. They just say these these platitudes. There's there's something that's off about their behavior. Like you can you can recognize the guys. And it's like Mark said, it's super counterintuitive because people sometimes feel like if I give, then I'll be taken advantage of.
Right. And it's funny seeing people in like the takers mindset because they look at givers as like naive and stupid, but it's actually the best thing you can do, because when you give, people want to be around you. People want to work with you like more opportunities come your way. So, you know, if there's one thing you get from this, guys, understand that 99 percent of people are takers, but that one percent that is givers give value to them. If you want to network with them, you know, start start by giving value and just work your way up.
And it becomes this upward spiral. Yeah, it's funny how it's funny how this podcast like transformed before our eyes into something positive. You know what I mean? Yeah, it's funny how that happens. And we might have to change the title entirely. But but really, when you become a giver, then you're going to attract givers and you're automatically going to get more. And those people who are in the scarcity mindset, you could see it immediately, dude. It's like the guy who goes up to the girl with just that neediness in his eyes.
Like all he wants to do is get in her panties. Right. Yeah, she can feel it from him. But the guy who goes up and he's just, you know, he's just like giving value and giving funny jokes and being the champion. She automatically wants to be around that guy because he has a certain charisma. And there are people out there in the world, man. And it's like I love meeting people like this. And, you know, I do coaching. I do NLP coaching specific to dating. And oftentimes I'll meet these guys who are having trouble with women, but they're actually good fucking dudes.
And they're like – oftentimes I think of it as like they're grubs who haven't yet transformed into the butterfly that they're going to become. And several of my students particularly, I just talk to these guys and I'm like, man, I just can't wait to see what this guy is going to become because he's working on himself by working with me. He's willing to invest in himself. He resonates with my message, which is certain things like being a go-giver. And I can see these people who are going to be something great.
So, yes, while 99% of people are takers, there's still a lot of untapped potential in people. And that's what compassion is, is it's recognizing that in people. And so that's how you don't – that's how you become not bitter because it's easy to become bitter when you think, well, 99% of people are fucking takers, pieces of shit. Yeah, right now, but we're all evolving. And eventually a lot of those people are going to become amazing people. It just has to happen with maturity, evolution, and age sometimes. So really, it's easy to get pessimistic and cynical, but you can have a positive mindset when you know that within everybody, I believe, within everybody is an amazing being of love and light and compassion and consciousness.
But a lot of us are just lost right now, and we just – we're in the ego trying to get, get, get and screw people over. But once you realize that doesn't work because you attract to yourself that same thing and you shift it and then you start giving, you realize that, wow, when I give out, twice as much comes back in, literally. It's an ironic thing about the universe, man, but it really is true. It's crazy because I've had people comment on some of my videos and send me emails, and they'll say like, John, I bought your products because I feel guilty.
You give so much away for free. I feel like I need to give something to you. I had a guy the other day, and sometimes I'll get guys that like – they buy my product a second time. What? And I don't – yeah, like I don't understand why, but then I guess maybe it's that. It's just they like – they see me giving away so much free shit. They're like, wow, I need to buy it again. Yeah. I don't know, but I mean it's crazy how that works, man.
Like people will literally come up to you and try to give you money if they know you. I had one guy the other day. He just made five free infographics for me that I shared on Instagram. People just give me free shit because it's like I spent so much time writing free articles and giving out free YouTube videos, free advice, answering my fans, their emails. Like people just give shit out for free to you when you've done it so many times to them. So that's the ultimate key, guys, is just give.
I know you're going to wrap it up. I just want to say one more thing is that like you said about successful entrepreneurs is the ability to receive is part of it and to be thankful. Like, hey, man, thank you so much. Don't be like, no, no, no, I'm not going to take that because I'm a go-giver. There is a time to receive. When the universe is trying to give you that gift back, take it and be thankful and then give it to somebody else. Pay it forward.
Be respectful. It's circular, right? Give, give, give. Get, get, get. Give, give, give. And that's often – we obviously have two minutes until I have a client call. But that's oftentimes people's issue with money is they get money and they stop it. They hoard it. Exactly. They hoard it. You have to keep the energy going. My precious, my precious. Yeah. You have to give. Yeah, yeah. We can wrap it up now. I got a client here. We should title this Give It All The Way, The Number One Secret to Business Success or something like that.
