How You're KILLING Your TESTOSTERONE!
About this episode
Testosterone is lower today than it has ever been through all of human history. This is because we're surrounded with chemicals that are actively preventing our body from making testosterone. In this episode, Mark Sing explains what you're doing to accidentally lower your testosterone and how to make simple changes to skyrocket your testosterone and thus get happier... healthier ... and attractive to women.

Welcome to the Unapologetic Man Podcast. The only podcast that's all about self-improvement, confidence, success, women, and being a man without making any apologies for it. What's up guys, Mark Sing from the UMP. Thank you for tuning in to another episode and today we are going to talk about those things that are killing your testosterone. There's a somewhat disappointing reality that I have to clue you into if you don't already know. The government, companies, society as a whole really doesn't have your best interest in mind. In fact, it's all based on money and we are actively being poisoned by big companies, specifically food companies, pharmaceutical companies, pesticide companies, the government.
All these different entities are unfortunately poisoning us and you have to be very educated and very cognizant and make very deliberate moves in your life just to not be poisoned. So in this podcast, I'm going to talk about what it is they're doing that's poisoning you and then we're going to talk about how we can change our lives to get rid of those poisons and then what I'm going to do is in a few days, I'm going to follow up with other ways that you can build your testosterone with like lifestyle changes.
So this is going to be based on really some of the pharmaceuticals, plastics, pesticides, food coloring, detergents, electronics, furniture, clothing, etc. That's actually poisoning you and how we can make these changes to our lives so that we don't get as poisoned anymore and so that we stop getting our testosterone lowered the way it has been for the past 50 years. All right, so I'm sure you've heard the studies about how testosterone has been lowering significantly in men and you may wonder why that's happening. Is it just the culture that's turning us into beta cucks?
Is it the culture that's making us more feminized or is there something more to it? Well, I'm here to tell you that there is something more to it and it's because we live in a society where look around. We are surrounded with synthetics. We are surrounded with plastic. We are surrounded with paint and asbestos and all these kinds of chemicals that we're not going to just get away from scot-free. You know, these things have consequences and unfortunately, the big consequence they have is they're lowering testosterone in men like significantly.
Okay, so for example, a 60-year-old man in 2004 had testosterone levels 17% lower than those of a 60-year-old in 1987. Okay, so that's about a 20-year difference and that's 17% lower. Another study of Danish men produced similar findings with double-digit declines among men born in the 1960s compared to those born in the 1920s. I also saw a study once where it's like World War II, those guys in World War II had testosterone that was two to three times higher than men of the similar age in today's society. Okay, so what's going on?
I put a lot of research into this and here's what I found. A lot of the synthetics that we have in our life, particularly plastic, have what are called endocrine disruptors. Okay, endocrine disruptors. So what happens is they go into our body and they disrupt somehow the endocrine system and don't allow somehow our testosterone to build or to replenish itself. Obviously, I'm no expert. I'm just kind of repeating what I found through my research, but that's basically how it works. Okay, so endocrine disruptors are found in pesticides, food coloring, detergents, plastics, particularly like plastic water bottles, the plastic you store food on is really important, electronics, furniture, clothing, 3,000 synthetic chemicals, and most aren't studied.
So we have all these chemicals around us and they're influencing, you know, our testosterone. All right, so the first chemical I want to talk about is called atrozine and this is a pesticide that's used on fruits and vegetables. Well, a bunch of this stuff was dumped into a lake and they found that male frogs became female frogs when exposed to this stuff. They've banned it in Europe, but it's still legal in the U.S. And unfortunately, it's also found in drinking water. Another thing that's found in drinking water is estrogen from birth control from women.
So women take birth control, which has estrogen in it, and then they pee in the toilet. It's flushed. It goes through the, quote unquote, purification process, and then it's recycled back into our municipal water system. So when you turn on the faucet and you drink water from your house, you are basically getting poisoned with estrogen as well as this pesticide atrozine. The filtration process of the municipal cities don't get rid of this stuff. So solution number one is to get purified water. Okay. I know a lot of you guys aren't living in the United States who are listening to this, but I'm sure you have purification options in your own countries.
But what I do is I go to the supermarket and I get five-gallon water jugs and I purify it through those purification systems that you find at the end of the aisle in the water aisle. You know, like the soda in the water aisle. I know supermarkets are all the same in the United States. Well, they have that like penguin on it and that's reverse osmosis. It goes through a charcoal filter and the charcoal filter is the real important thing to get rid of the estrogen.
And so you really, really, really want to get purified water. Fortunately for me, I've been drinking purified water for years just because I prefer the taste. And so I haven't been drinking the stuff out of the faucet. But man, if you're drinking out of the faucet and you just switch to purified, it's worth the investment. It's going to severely, significantly raise your testosterone. So that's one thing you can do right there. Okay, BPA is something that you've heard of before. It's in plastic water bottles, specifically those single-use water bottles.
Did you know we use one million water bottles a minute all over the world? So all over the world, we're using one million water bottles a minute. Okay, so what I do is I got this metallic water bottle that I carry with me and I just filled up with that purified water that I was talking about. Now, ideally, I would have glass water bottles when I fill up my five-gallon jugs, but I'm going to admit to you I still have the plastic. But we want to use glass and metal to carry our food and our water.
So if you meal prep like I do, I cook all my food once a week and it's mostly protein and vegetables and carbs, I put it in plastic containers like those Tupperware containers. But man, that's really bad, especially putting hot food in a plastic container or microwaving the food in a plastic container is horrible. So you should be cooking it in a pan and you should be storing it in glass. I know it's a Hasselhoff, guys. Believe me, it's like the last thing you want to do.
But dude, they're fucking poisoning you. So in order to become more attractive to women, we have to raise our testosterone. And this is the way to do it. OK, so get your water filtered. Super important. If you do one thing, just do that. Secondly, the water bottles that you carry around with you, go buy a metallic one. I mean, there's water bottles everywhere. You can go to a sports shop and get a metallic one. Make sure it's BPA free. I'm sure they do the same thing in other countries.
And also what's interesting is that this BPA is also found in paper receipts. I can't remember what I saw, but I saw this weird video about paper receipts and how it leaves like this weird residue on your hands and then it like gets absorbed into your skin. So, dude, I don't fuck with receipts. Like I just have the lady put it in the bag or I tell her to throw it away. If I really need it, I'll just have her put it in the bag. Like I don't touch them because I've seen lots of studies about how there's some like weird stuff on them.
So if you're touching receipts all the time, you may want to reconsider that. 93% of Americans have detectable levels of BPA in our blood system. Probably includes you and I, but we can reduce that. It's kind of scary, right? Like we're being poisoned and you don't learn about this shit until somebody actually brings it up like me. I mean, also don't even get me started on the goddamn supermarket. The entire supermarket is just a fucking poison mill. You go to the middle of the supermarket, like in the cereal aisle, right?
Other people living in other countries may not have this, but like in America, there's literally like 200 different cereals you can choose from. And if you look at the sugar content on these cereals, it's poison. Dude, sugar is poison. What I recommend is shopping on the outskirts of the supermarket. Stay away from the middle. All the crap is in the middle. All the good stuff is on the edges. The fruit and vegetables are on the edges. The meats are on the edges. And of course, this goes without saying, you want to get organic because that pesticide I was mentioning earlier, that shit poisons you.
You got to get organic food. You want to get grass-fed beef, grass-fed turkey. You want wild-caught fish, and it's worth the investment to spend a little bit more money on your diet so you simply don't get poisoned. I mean, this, in my opinion, is also the reason for cancer and the huge crisis we're having with our healthcare here in the United States, not to mention obesity. And look, the reason why we're being poisoned, the reason why we're all getting fat is because of marketing, right? We are designed to go after sugary foods because sugary foods are very few and far between in the forest.
When I go into the forest and do bushcraft, it's amazing to me how little fruit I find. But I find plenty of vegetables, lots of grasses, and lots of different things I can eat in that respect. And then if you hunt or you trap, you get your meat. But getting a ton of sugar is really difficult in the forest. So that's why through evolution, we've developed the taste for sugar is because we want it so badly that we're going to spend the time to go pick, you know, a hundred berries out of a tree, like juniper berries or something out of a tree, because it's that important for us to get the vitamins, but it's that scarce that we have such a desire for it.
So the food companies have crafted the taste of foods to meet that need where it just hits that sugar nerve, right? And it feels so good to eat that stuff. And dude, they've poured sugar in everything. Sugars in yogurt, sugars in ketchup, sugar is in Doritos, wheat thins, everything. You'd be amazed, man. Just look on the back of boxes. It's like so much sugar. So what I do is I have a very quote unquote paleo type diet. Meat, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, like sweet potatoes. And coincidentally, you know, I have a six pack.
It's really not that hard. I'm 43 and I'm fucking shredded. It's not that hard to do. You just have to stop eating the crap that everyone's trying to give you and eat. Like I dare say, our ancestors ate, right? Hunter gatherers. I just pretend I'm eating like I'm in the forest. What would I eat if I was in the forest? Lots of leafy greens, lots of vegetables, a little bit of fruit, lots of meat. And that's pretty much it. All right. So circling back to women's birth control, this stays in the drinking water.
Male fish become female fish because of this stuff called estrodiol, estrodiol. I took notes on this. So I'm just kind of going through them here. There's a thing called phalase. It's a pesticide. It's in perfumes, shampoo, cologne, shower curtains, and plastics. Okay. So what I do is I like to rock some cologne. Okay. I'm not going to quit that, but I've been spraying it on my shirt rather than on my skin. I've changed up my shampoo to the hippie shampoo. Go to a place like Whole Foods, Sprouts.
There's a place called Natural Grocers. Just go where the goddamn soap dodgers go. Go where the hippies go. Go to the supermarket that the girls go to that have hair under their armpits. You go there, man. You're fucking stoked. You're going to get the clean, good stuff. But you want to switch your shampoo. You want to switch your soap, and you want to switch your lotion. So those are the things that I switched. I use the hippie-dippie stuff. If you really search for it, you can get some stuff that smells pretty good.
The shampoo that I got has peppermint oil in it, and it makes my head smell like a damn peppermint candy, and I really like that. I haven't really found a great shower gel yet. I'm still kind of looking, but I've been going to the hippie-dippie places and asking those goddamn soap dodgers, those tree huggers, where I can get the stuff. And they're pretty cool, man. I don't have anything against them. But it's kind of funny seeing me in there, kind of all punk rock looking. And I'm like, yo, I want to get some shampoo from a hippie.
And they held me out with that. Okay, milk. Milk reduces testosterone by one hour after drinking milk. There was a significant decrease in tests. These are my notes, guys. I'm like a retard taking notes. Milk. It reduces tests by one hour after drinking milk. Great notes there, buddy. All right. So anyway, I guess it reduces testosterone an hour after you drink it. So who would have thought milk would have decreased your testosterone? The marketing company says milk does a body good. Were they lying to me?
I thought it did my body good. I thought it was going to make me a man. I thought it was going to make me like a strong hockey player and a great boxer and a great baseball player. That's what the advertisers say, right? It's not true. No. It reduces your testosterone. So get rid of that shit. All right. Let's see if I can read this. Phytoestrogens. Soy and tofu. You've probably heard that soy and tofu raises estrogen and lowers testosterone. If you've got some girly tits going on, if you look like a chicken McNugget with tits, this is probably why, brother, you got to get rid of that soy and tofu.
The hippies did not get it right on that one. Soy protein lowered testosterone in weightlifters. 35 million sperm decreased in men who consume soy. All right. Try to figure that one out. 35 million sperm decrease. Oh, I get it. In men who consume soy protein. Okay. So stay away from the soy. All right. How to optimize your testosterone and reduce exposure. First and foremost, as I discussed, and probably more importantly, and probably the one thing you can do today that's actually realistic is get your water filter. Just go buy those bottles.
You can get them at Home Depot or any other place. I think you can get them at Walmart. And I'm sure if you're in other countries, you can get them too. And go get your water filtered. I know it's a hassle-off. I know it sucks. But just do it. What I actually do is I have my water delivered. It's a little bit expensive. My family goes through 10 five-gallon jugs a month, and I pay 80 bucks for that. So it's about, I think it's $7 or $8. Yeah, it's $8 a jug for it to be delivered to my house.
So I don't have to deal with it. I just leave the empty bottles outside. Homeboy comes, drops them off. Boom. We got water for the month. It's worth it to me to pay that. Grass-fed meats and butters goes without saying. You want to get that grass-fed beef, especially if you're like me and you eat tons of ground beef every day. You want to get grass-fed. Super important. Foods ideally shouldn't be wrapped in plastics. When I heard this, I was like, dude, yeah, right. Go into the supermarket and try to find anything that isn't wrapped in plastics.
So ideally speaking, maybe you find a co-op where they get organic, you know, grass-fed meat. Maybe if you really want to get extreme, you can do that. Obviously, you're going to be like, yeah, duh, dude. You want to avoid fast foods. Also, you want to avoid restaurants. There's 35% higher phalase. To those who eat out. Okay. I think what I meant by that is those who eat out have 35% higher phalase in their bloodstream. And once again, phalase is that pesticide. Yep. Pesticide and perfume, shampoo, cologne, shower curtains, and plastics.
So for some reason, when you go to restaurants, dude, you get like a big old dose of that pesticide. Okay. Now, once again, guys, I have to reiterate that these things are going into your body and they're like clogging up the thing that receives the testosterone or they're preventing you from being able to create testosterone. And this is why you have low testosterone. Now, what does it matter if you have low testosterone? I should have said this in the beginning. You don't feel right. I noticed when I raised my testosterone by switching some of these things out as well as changing my lifestyle and doing some things that I'm going to talk about in the next podcast.
When I did that, everything changed, man. I started feeling much better. I was way less stressed, way less like feminine energy, right? I just felt super pumped up. I love going to the gym. I feel good. I lost a lot of body fat. You just feel good because you get your hormones in balance. So if you're kind of depressed and down and maybe sitting on the couch a lot and not really motivated, it's probably low testosterone. So if you start getting some of this shit solved, you're going to feel a lot better.
All right, so eliminating fragrances from personal care products. Once again, I just like cut to the chase and go to the hippy-dippy places and get some of that stuff. You also want to optimize your sleep. Most guys with low testosterone don't get enough sleep. I'll mention this more in the following podcast. All right, there's two apps I want you guys to check out. The first app is called Think Dirty. Think Dirty. And the second app is called Healthy Living. Healthy Living. Okay, so this is really cool.
What it does is it scans the barcode of any product you're interested in and tells you the toxic ingredients in the products. So what you can do is you can take that app, take it to the supermarket, scan it, and it's going to tell you how bad it is for you or how okay it is for you. I did this and I took it to the hippy-dippy place before I bought my shampoo and my lotion and I'm still looking for a body soap because the one I bought was horrible, dude.
It was like oily and it made me smell like a goddamn soap dodger. So I got to get a new one. So I did this and I scanned it and it's like good to go and it told me, you know, if it had toxic ingredients in it and then you take it to the supermarket and you scan like a back of Nella wafers, man, you're doomed when you see how much toxic stuff is in there. All right, so small changes put together over time make a big difference.
So, you know, once again, be cognizant of the kind of stuff that you're using. Another thing that's bad is detergents, laundry detergents. Go again to the natural hippy-dippy place and get the stuff that they recommend. You know, they may be onto something there. You know, I always made fun of these people. I went to UC Santa Cruz and there's always hippies there. There's like a punk rock scene and a hippie scene and I was actually a punk rock drummer in college of a straight edge band and we would always make fun of the hippies.
But they may be onto something here, especially with testosterone. All right, so check this out, dude. If in 30 years we don't make a change, men will become sterile. Sterile. Do you know what that means? That means you cannot have offspring. 30 years, bro. That's 2050. 30 fucking years men will become sterile. So unless you want to become one of those statistics, I strongly suggest you get your lifestyle changed up. I'm going to follow up with a great podcast about how to boost your testosterone with lifestyle changes. We're going to do that next.
But in the meantime, I want you to think about this. Think about changing your life because once again, not only will you feel better when you get your testosterone back up to normal levels, but you also get women way more attracted to you. Because remember, they can see what your testosterone level is by things like the glow of your skin, facial hair, musculature, the way you hold yourself, the depth of your voice. There are certain things we do. There are certain things that change when our testosterone both goes up and down.
And those things are very detectable by women and their attraction for you is based on it. So this, in addition to the next podcast, is going to get your testosterone skyrocketing so that you feel a million times better, you're vibrant, you're happy, you're excited, you feel good, you're not stressed, you're lifting weights, you're a fucking champ, and you're going to get more ass than a toilet seat. All right, guys. Once again, thank you so much for listening, and I will see you in the next podcast.
